About HighLoad++
HighLoad is a professional conference for developers of highload internet systems. Every year since 2007 more than 600 internet specialists from Russia, Ukraine and neighboring countries have come to this amazing event. Main conference topics are architectures of highload systems, databases, storage systems, management and development process organization, system administration and quality.
This year our team organized three professional IT-conferences: Russian Internet Technologies / RIT++, ClientSide, RootConf, and is planning to organize two others — HighLoad++ and WhaleRider. They will encompass all spheres of Internet project development.

Press about us
Webplanet / HighLoad++ 2010:
PostgreSQL was presented by the lead developers of this product. Simon Riggs spoke about the history of system development over the past decade in his talk “Developing PostgreSQL Performance”. He also told about significant improvement in its performance. Robert Treat was speaking about «Scaling with PostgreSQL», namely about scaling which some people gently call «scalirovaniye».

Robert Johnson (Facebook) spoke on «Facebook Secrets: how to handle 50 million inquiries per second».
Patrice Pelland (Microsoft) elaborated in his talk «Shared Personalization Service – How to Scale to 15K RPS» on server architecture for customer’s personalization.
Maxim Lapshin in his speech called «Optimizing top applications for a social network VKontakte: 1000 inquiries per second on Rails» told about the process of boosting this application to prove the words «Rails can be fast no matter what our enemies say!». Then there was “VKontakte Round Table” where it became clear that all these IT-get-togethers are quite show business. Pavel Durov’s visit was announced as pop-star performance. Pavel repeated several times that everything they have had been “developed by the nest brains”. And even though in the beginning he was speaking quite steadily (or stiff?), in the end Paul brightened up telling about the beginning of «VKontakte».
In this workshop there was also a “square table” (a rectangular one, to tell the truth) about using manycore CPU with the participation of Google, Intel, Yandex and Rambler.
Stoyan Stefanov (Yahoo) in his talk «Progressive Downloads and Rendering» informed us about progressive web pages rendering in browsers.
Nikolay Kondratov (Mail.ru) told about «Rapid template and statics deployment in Mail.Ru».
The most interesting speech in this section was «Performance tweaks and tools for Linux», where Joe Damato told about adjustment and profiling tools, standard and not really (lsof, ltrace, strace, tcpdump, oprofile, pprof, ioprofile), and all kinds of tuning’у Linux tricks.
Market is changing, as well the distribution of “power-points” of technology specialists’ concentration. There are no extreme changes but there is constant and stable growth.
VKnews / The Architecture of the social network VKontakte:
The biggest social network in RuNet finally shared information about its functioning. Project spokesmen Pavel Durov and Oleg Illarionov answered various questions about how VKontakte operates including its technical aspects. We are glad to share the results of their presentations.
