Travel information

Arriving by Air

There are three public international airports in Moscow: Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo airport, Vnukovo airport. They all are about 30 – 40km away from the city centre.

ATMs and currency exchange desk are available in each terminal. Post offices and other business services are also available. If you wish to get taxi, make sure you join the queue for a fixed rate taxi service at airport terminal.

Travel by Train from the Airport

The Aeroexpress train service connects all Moscow international airports with railroad stations, located in the city center. The railway terminals, where Aeroexpress trains depart, are situated close to the underground stations of Koltsevaya line.

You can purchase Aeroexpess tickets in airport or railway terminal. On Aeroexpress website you can see its schedule and purchase tickets online.

Business Hours

Business hours in Moscow are 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday. Shops are generally open all days 10:00-21:00. Banks are usually open Monday to Friday from 09:00 up to 18:00.

Currency and Banking

Currency Exchange

The Russian currency is the Ruble (RUR). You can change money in most banks. We recommend Sberbank, VTB-24 and Alfa-bank offices and ATMs. If possible, exchange money at a bank during regular opening hours or use ATMs, which are called Bankomats in Russia. Changing your money at hotels and some other foreign exchange offices is more expensive.

Credit Cards

Major credit and debit cards (MasterCard/Visa) are widely accepted though some small hotels, restaurants and shops may only accept cash. Moscow underground, taxi and other public services accept only cash. One thousand rubles per day is enough.

Electricity

Same as in European Union: 220-230V, 50 Hz — round two pin plugs.
